Rural and urban Development
Rural and urban development has also been an area of activity for WAPCOS for providing
consultancy services. Ever increasing population, in rural as well as urban areas,
poses typical problems of scarcity of water, power, housing, drainage, surface
transport, etc. and also requires appropriate solutions for the resulting pollution
and environmental degradation. Inadequate facilities and slow pace of development
in rural areas result in migration of population from rural area to the urban
centres, which further complicate the issues and aggravate the problems. To check
the flow of migration of people from rural to urban areas, it is essential to
provide adequate facilities and opportunities in the rural areas by way of developing
the infrastructure.
WAPCOS has been providing consultancy services
for the projects in rural areas for development of infrastructure facilities
like rural housing, roads, water supply and sanitation, rural electrification
and in the areas of minor irrigation and agriculture, rainwater harvesting,
water quality monitoring, wasteland development, micro watershed development,
environment etc.
In the urban areas the company has been
involved in the consultancy services in water supply and sanitation, power
generation, transmission and distribution, underground cabling, environmental
studies, assistance to Municipal Corporations, storm water drainage, flood
